Korea Communications Standards Comission (KCSC) issues legal warning against tvN's 'Life Bar' for portraying alcoholic drinking in positive light

BY Susan-Han · December 18, 2018

The Korea Communications Standards Comission (KCSC) drew a verdict to issue an official, legal "warning" against tvN's 'Life Bar' on December 17.

On this day, the KCSC held a full members' meetings regarding an episode of 'Life Bar' which aired back in mid-September. During this episode, the show's MCs and guests drank various alcoholic beverages such as cocktails, soju, etc, discussing the act of alcoholic drinking for a lengthy period of time.

The KCSC observed, "The show chose to emphasize footage of the MCs and guests drinking, more so than footage of their conversations, and if not careful, such footage can plant positive connotations about alcoholic drinking to viewers and/or influence alcoholic drinking."

The tvN program previously received a similar "warning" back in March of this year, also on the basis that the show could influence viewers to practice alcoholic drinking. Meanwhile, 'Life Bar' airs every Thursday nights at 11 PM KST.
