Seasoned Music Critic Kim Youngdae names BTS Jimin’s second pre-chorus verse @ 111 as the Killing Part of “Butter”

Park Jimin, the main dancer and lead vocalist of BTS, has been dubbed as the “Killing Part Maker” which he earned for his many legendary and memorable killing parts that bring different flavors and colors to BTS’s songs.

On May 22, South Korean music critic Kim Youngdae posted on his official Twitter account and said; “Jimin’s 2nd pre-chorus verse is really good. A killer”, referring to the solo part of Jimin on BTS’s latest single “Butter”. Kim Youngdae followed it with a more specific tweet and said, “1:11 if they ask where?”, giving the specific time stamp to look at Butter’s official music video.

Kim Youngdae is a seasoned music critic and an author, who serves as a member of Selection Committee for Korean Music Awards. He was born and raised in South Korea and eventually moved to the USA in 2007 where he has been closely observing American pop music trends and the development of K-pop for over a decade. Kim Youngdae published a book called “BTS The Review: A Comprehensive Look at the Music of BTS”, which is an information-packed book for anyone who is curious about the BTS and their music.

It is not the first time that Jimin caught the attention of Kim Youngdae. On January 2021, Kim Youngdae regarded Jimin’s voice as the most important auditory element of BTS’s sound and compared him to the legendary Michael Jackson in his column “Weekly Munhak”. Jimin can hit difficult high notes and such high-pitched voice will give you a feeling of excitement enough to break through any thick wall.

Kim Youngdae also reviewed BTS’s Rose Bowl Concert in May 2019, praised Jimin’s “Serendipity” and said “Jimin’s Serendipity has a rhythm that is never easy but adding tiny details in the movements has created an attention-grabbing stage. The recorded version is good but the intensity and elegance of the stage are topnotch.”


He also once said that Jimin, in “Love Maze”, really saved the mood of the song.


The fans agree with Kim Youngdae identifying Jimin’s killing part in Butter. In a Korean online community, some of the comments were:

“Kim Youngdae, I think so too. Thank you.”

“Oh, Jimin’s voice is always the best.”

“As expected, Jimin always makes killing parts.”


Jimin likewise caught the attention of several media outlets and verified accounts which mentioned him or used images of him after the release of Butter music video, proving Jimin's superior impact.

Jimin keeps adding more legendary killing parts and keep earning nicknames for it such as Fire 333, Not Today 424, and now Butter 111.

Indeed, King of Kpop Jimin is a genre of its own. He continues to bring anything out of the ordinary, truly remarkable and always legendary.
