It has been just over two weeks since BTS made an appearance at the 76th United Nations General Assembly on September 20, where each of the members had a chance to give individual speeches. Jimin was particularly a highlight of this appearance, not just for his words during his speech but also for the process of delivering the speech, which saw him become a book from which to borrow a leaf and apply it to our daily life situations.
In particular, while giving his speech, Jimin was really nervous given the intensity of the stage whereby the group was speaking in front of world leaders from all over the globe, and the weight of the responsibility of speaking for the youth and delivering their stories, a task that he put so much importance to. As such, Jimin had to take a break at some point and took a deep breath to calm his nerves before proceeding with his speech.
So many people found his deeds relatable, which brought him closer to the audience. Like the UN Global Communications leader and UNHCR Chief Spokesperson Melissa Fleming said, it showed that despite his high celebrity status, he was still a human being. Thus, everyone could relate to him.

Q. What are your impressions on your second visit to the UN?
I believe this is our second visit. Including our online address, this is our third visit to the UN. But you know, this is not the first time here + pic.twitter.com/BUnde8bszF
We received answers from the future generation to the questions that we posed, and we did our best to transmit or share these answers to the rest of the world. So yeah, I have to say thank you so much from us for the opportunity to do so.

In addition, Jimin demonstrated to viewers that whenever taking on any task, if it gets overwhelming, it is okay to stop and take a breather before proceeding with the task. Such a break helps to recollect yourself and fall back on the right path. Jimin was able to finish his speech perfectly after his break. The audience absolutely looked up to him with admiration and respect, taking it as a moment to learn from.

Jimin getting nervous is so humane, The way his words are so geniune and he felt each one of it ... He paused, took a deep breath and continued with ease ... His speech was one of the longest yet the way he conveyed each word with authority and Respect

I AM SO PROUD OF HIM 👏

The moment has still not lost its relevance till now. On October 5, a Chief Buddhist priest at Gwaneum temple mentioned Jimin's appearance at the #UNGA while speaking to a gathering, as reported in an article in Beopbo news, a news outlet for Buddhists in South Korea. The priest also reiterates how Jimin's pause and composing himself during the speech are teaching and life lessons.
even the Chief Spokesperson for UNHCR Melissa Fleming was impressed and endeared by Jimin’s speech at UNGA 2021 🥺

Mainly, the priest says that a friend said it was remarkable how Jimin forgot his words during the speech but stopped and calmly started over. The friend said they would just have cried if they were in that position.
Based on how Jimin handed the situation and himself, the priest says that it gave him the thought that it is needless to fear making mistakes because there is always the chance to redeem yourself.
The priest uses an analogy of being shot by a poisoned arrow, which brings up a second arrow if the first one is not removed and could be more catastrophic. In this case, fear, anger, and thoughts of vengeance are the second arrow stemming from any kind of event that could have brought up the emotions as the first arrow. Dwelling on these emotions could cause death eventually. Thus, as much as the first arrow is uncontrollable, the second one is within our control, whereby getting rid of such thoughts brings happiness after being freed from the bondage of the thoughts.

You cannot avoid the unpredictable first arrow, but you can control the second one [...] By changing your thoughts, you can free yourself from the second arrow and become happy"

Jimin is a big inspiration to many people around the world and such a perfect role model. For him to be referenced even by a religious leader as a moment of learning in life is a clear demonstration of how much of a role model he is in life, despite being still young in age. The moment is even more meaningful given that he himself is from a Buddhist background. Here are some reactions to this piece of news from fans.

In the same event, Jimin's character also came to the spotlight as Brendan Morris, an American dancer and actor, also spoke in high regard to his character. Brendan, who was one of the backup dancers for the 'Permission to Dance' performance at the UN, narrated how warm, friendly, and humble Jimin was when he waved at him with a smile. The dancer was in awe of him and took quite a while to digest the fact that Jimin saw him and waved at him. Jimin's kindness, humility, and good-hearted nature always stand out to everyone who gets the chance to interact with him.
+ like a small bow. I was like right, Thank you. I was freaking out. I was like I just saw him and he said Hi to me. Yeah...!
