On the 30th of last month, NewJeans performed their newest song, "ETA" on SBS' music program 'Inkigayo.' At the time, NewJeans' performance was approximately 2 minutes and 30 seconds long, and the "iPhone performance" lasted about 20 seconds.
In that short span of time, the iPhone was caught on camera, and even a close-up view of the phone was shown, making the product recognizable.
Regarding the performance, some netizens expressed their discomfort with the 20 seconds of indirect advertising. Many netizens pointed out that they do not want to see advertisements, even in music programs.
With a rise in discontent opinions over the "iPhone performance," the Korea Communications Standards Commission decided to investigate.
Meanwhile, according to Article 47 of the Regulations on Broadcasting Deliberation, it is stipulated that indirect advertisements should not interfere with the flow of viewing.
