After finding a new home in the label Atlantic Records and kickstarting her solo debut with the sensational “APT.” and heartfelt “number one girl,” BLACKPINK’s Rosé sat down for an interview in the latest episode of JTBC’s news show ‘Newsroom’, broadcasted on December 1.
Since her debut with the group BLACKPINK eight years ago, Rosé demonstrated a more mature aura during the conversation about coming into her own as a music artist.
Ahead of the release of her full album ‘rosie’, self-penned with twelve tracks, Rosé revealed that she feels blessed to be able to share personal and honest songs she co-wrote and co-composed. As a workaholic, she finds herself enjoying compliments related to work the most, stating that she is happiest when her music and other work-related endeavors are appreciated.
When asked about kissing Bruno Mars in the “APT.” music video, Rosé first cited the lyrics “kissy face, kissy face” as the basis, and elaborates that she was shy about it at first. Rosé questioned why she had to be the one kissing Bruno, and Bruno explained that it would be more appropriate than him kissing her, which left her convinced. She also stated that there is a lot of behind-the-scenes footage, but nothing has been released thus far.
Originally based in Australia, Rosé came to Korea alone for idol training at YG Entertainment in her early teens. She mentioned that her father still jokes about regretting sending her to Korea for auditions, as he misses her a lot, all the time. Coming into her late 20s, Rosé aspires to be an artist who keeps making music that feels true to herself.
Rosé’s highly anticipated solo album ‘rosie’ will be released on December 6.
