Song Min Ho of WINNER has been forwarded to prosecution for negligence during his mandatory public service duties, police confirmed on May 23 KST.
The WINNER member previously became wrapped up in accusations of workplace negligence in December of last year, nearly a year and 3 months into his mandatory service duties. It was alleged that the musician often failed to show up to work, used an excessive amount of vacation days by citing "medical reasons", etc. In response, his label YG Entertainment told media outlets at the time, "Song Min Ho's medical absences are an extension of the treatments he began receiving prior to his enlistment. All of his other vacation days were received according to regulation."
However, according to reports on May 23 KST, Song Min Ho largely admitted to his workplace negligence allegations during a police questioning held on February 26 KST. The case will now be forwarded to prosecution for additional investigation and trial.
Article 33 of South Korea's Military Service Act states that public service workers who neglect their duties without permissible reason must serve additional time, approximately five times the amount of days they spent neglecting their duties. If the individual neglected their duties for more than 8 days, they may face a penalty as heavy as 3 years in prison.
