Yoo Kangmin honestly opens up to fans about renewing with VERIVERY + possibility of a 'Boys II Planet' runner-up group

On October 17 KST, VERIVERY member Yoo Kangmin held a live broadcast on SNS to address numerous fans' concerns over his future activities.

On this day, Yoo Kangmin first clarified the circumstances surrounding his decision to renew his contract with Jellyfish Entertainment and VERIVERY. 

He said, "We actually renewed before going on 'Boys II Planet'. It was right around when we were all thinking a lot about what we needed to do moving forward, and the company told us that an offer had come in for 'Boys II Planet'. We said that we wanted to do it, and the company said that it would support us on 'Boys II Planet' if we renewed our contracts."

The VERIVERY member added on, "Since it was uncertain whether anyone would actually debut, and we needed a plan for what would happen after the show was over, we decided to renew before going on the show after considering all the possibilities. The members and I talked a lot about this."

He candidly revealed, "What made me sad was that the hyungs, they genuinely wanted me to do well. They were constantly in that mindset, 'If at least one of us can succeed, it's a win'. And then I ended up receiving so much attention during 'Boys II Planet', and all of the hyungs were genuinely happy for me. They said, 'Well since it's come to this, you should go and be successful'. It made me sad, because I don't think they were lying."

Kangmin continued, "But in the end, I didn't make it. So then, we needed to decide what to do after all of this. But even though I didn't make it, I still believe that there are many people who are curious to know what my next move will be, and some of you are angry that I have not had a chance to promote much since then. I'm not happy about that either."

The idol then expressed with sincerity, "I am not young anymore. I am old enough now to express my desires and wishes to my company with the hyungs, and we are discussing various matters. You're not convinced, right? I guess it's hard to be convinced just like that. But I just want you to believe in me. I know that there are people who want different things, but I want to make it all happen for you to the best of my abilities. I'm not saying that you have to love everything that I do right away. But I hope that you can love me again in the future once I stand in front of you through various activities."

Finally, the former 'Boys II Planet' contestant addressed fans' demands for a "runner-up" group from 'Boys II Planet'. He said, "There are a lot of talks right now. I'm not really sure how it will play out. I know that there are a lot of fans who are dreaming of something specific, but in order for that dream to become reality, way more people have to coordinate and come to an agreement."

Meanwhile, Yoo Kangmin most recently garnered attention on the Mnet idol survival program 'Boys II Planet', finishing 9th place overall and just missing the cutoff for the winning group ALPHA DRIVE ONE.
