G-Dragon donates 2 billion KRW (approx. 1.5 million USD) to support Hong Kong fire recovery, funds psychological care for firefighters

Singer G-Dragon is contributing to recovery efforts following the devastating apartment fire in Hong Kong.

G-Dragon will donate 2 billion KRW (approx. 1.5 million USD) to the Support Fund for Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po, a relief fund established by the Hong Kong government to channel donations toward disaster response. He also requested that his contribution be used to support firefighters and emergency responders.

The Just Peace Foundation, where G-Dragon serves as honorary chairman, will also join the effort by collaborating with local organizations. The foundation plans to share its expertise in psychological support for firefighters and disaster response personnel.

“We want to demonstrate the spirit of solidarity that transcends borders,” the foundation stated, adding, “We hope the healing power of art can help the people of Hong Kong return to their daily lives.”

A massive fire broke out on November 26 at the 32-story Wong Fuk Court apartment complex in Tai Po, spreading across seven buildings over roughly 43 hours and causing significant human and material losses.

According to local authorities, as of November 28, the death toll has risen to 128, with around 200 residents still reported missing. The number of casualties is expected to increase as search efforts continue.

Meanwhile, G-Dragon is currently on his world tour ‘Ubermensch’, which will conclude with finale shows at Seoul’s Gocheok Sky Dome from December 12 to 14.
