Disney+ responds to Kim Soo Hyun's comeback rumors in series 'Knock Off' amid controversies

BY K-Soul · March 3, 2026

Actor Kim Soo Hyun, who paused his activities due to personal life controversies, was reported to be returning this year with the Disney+ series 'Knock Off.' Disney+ has now addressed these reports.

On March 3, Disney+ told iMBC Entertainment that there is “no change from the previous stance” regarding the release of the original series Knock Off.

The Disney+ original series 'Knock Off,' starring Kim Soo Hyun and Jo Bo Ah, is a black comedy crime drama set during the 1997 Korean financial crisis. It follows a man whose life is completely upended as he rises to become the king of the global counterfeit market.

With a reported production budget of 60 billion KRW (approx. 40.7 million USD), 'Knock Off' was originally scheduled to be released in the second quarter of last year. However, Disney+ halted production and indefinitely postponed the release due to Kim Soo Hyun’s personal controversies.

Speculation about a first-half 2026 release resurfaced after a recent media report. Kim Soo Hyun’s legal representative, lawyer Go Sang Rok, shared the article on his social media, noting that “it is highly likely to be true.”
