Ahn Jae Hyun breaks down in tears after hearing shaman reading, opens up about loneliness and healing

BY K-Soul · April 24, 2026

Ahn Jae Hyun broke down in tears while listening to a spiritual reading from a renowned shaman.

On the April 24 broadcast of tvN’s variety program 'Six Singles Under One Roof,' cast members visited the shrine of Go Chun Ja, widely known as the real-life consultant behind the occult blockbuster 'Exhuma,' which drew over 10 million viewers. Jang Do Yeon, Choi Daniel, Jang Geun Suk, Ahn Jae Hyun, and Kyung Soo Jin were shown visiting the site.

During the episode, Ahn Jae Hyun appeared visibly anxious as Go Chun Ja carefully remarked, “There’s so much I want to tell you,” while studying him closely.

Go Chun Ja’s daughter-in-law, Lee Da Young, who also practices shamanism, began interpreting his fortune. She stated bluntly, “Your fate itself is one of a shaman. In your destiny, there is no spouse, no children, and no support from parents or siblings.”

She continued, “That means you have an incredibly strong core that allows you to stand on your own. If you have confidence, there’s nothing in the world to fear—but right now, you’re deeply withdrawn, constantly reopening your own emotional wounds.”

Go Chun Ja agreed, adding, “Spiritually, I see Ahn Jae Hyun as someone who is extremely starved for love. Even if family is around, he still longs deeply for genuine love. It’s heartbreaking.” She further observed, “Because he has never truly received complete love, he doesn’t know what real love is,” pointing to the emptiness within him.

As the shaman’s words seemed to precisely dissect his inner thoughts and loneliness, Ahn Jae Hyun ultimately broke down, tears streaming down his face. Fellow cast members Kyung Soo Jin and Jang Do Yeon, watching beside him, comforted him with visible concern, creating an emotional moment for viewers.

In a post-filming interview, Ahn Jae Hyun shared his thoughts with a calmer expression. “It felt like watching a very sad film about myself after a long time,” he said.

He added, “After hearing the reading, I actually feel much more at ease than I expected. Living quietly without raising my voice at others might be a good way to live.”

He concluded on a hopeful note, saying, “I learned that it’s important to confidently speak in my own voice, wherever I am.”

The shamans Go Chun Ja and Lee Da Young, who appeared on the show, also served as real-life inspirations and consultants for the shaman characters portrayed by Kim Go Eun and Lee Do Hyun in 'Exhuma.' They notably guided actors on ritual performances and chants during filming, contributing to the film’s realism.

Meanwhile, Ahn Jae Hyun previously drew public attention for his marriage and divorce from actress Koo Hye Sun. After taking time off following the difficult period, he has recently returned to television, showcasing a more down-to-earth charm. He also gained attention for sharing his simple daily life with his pet cat on MBC’s 'Home Alone.'
