Three years have passed since the late Moonbin of the group ASTRO left this world.
April 19, 2026, marks the 3rd anniversary of the late Moonbin’s passing. He passed away on April 19, 2023, at the age of 25 at his home in Gangnam, Seoul.
At the time, his agency Fantagio stated, "Moonbin has suddenly left our side and become a star in the sky. The ASTRO members who have been with him for a long time, as well as all fellow artists and staff at Fantagio, are deeply mourning him with great sorrow and shock."

The sudden news left his acquaintances and colleagues in deep shock. Member Cha Eun Woo, who was overseas at the time, urgently returned to Korea, while member MJ, who was serving in the military, took leave to attend his funeral.
His younger sister, Moon Sua of the group Billlie, halted her activities following his passing, before resuming them in October of the same year.
Last year, on the 2nd anniversary of his passing, ASTRO released the song "Memory of the Moon" in his honor together with fellow artists.

"Memory of the Moon" is a song created with sincere hopes of offering comfort and a gift to fans who remember and love Moonbin. A total of 22 artists participated in the track, including VIVIZ, MONSTA X’s Minhyuk, Kihyun, and I.M, SEVENTEEN’s Hoshi, Wonwoo, Mingyu, DK, and Seungkwan, HELLO GLOOM, Rocky, Choi Yoo Jung, Kim Do Yeon, SF9’s Chani, Stray Kids’ Bang Chan, and his sister Moon Sua of Billlie.
This year, Moon Sua took to her Instagram, where she shared a song cover and an open letter to her late brother along with photos of an illustration and Moonbin's childhood.

Referring to the above cover of "Moments," an OST from a drama Moonbin was in, she wrote:
"Brother, it’s been a while.
You’re probably wondering what kind of song I’ve brought this time, right?
After thinking about it, I wanted to choose a song that also holds memories of you.
You liked this song, didn’t you?
When I looked at the lyrics, I loved them so much.
It feels like exactly what I want to say.
I hope my sincerity comes through.
The weather has gotten much warmer.
I’m working hard preparing for my comeback, and it’s my first full length album!
I feel like you would have given me a lot of feedback if you saw it.
I’ll work hard thinking that you’re watching.
When we meet, make sure to praise me, okay?
I miss you a lot, and I love you."
On Jinjin and Sanha's respective personal Instagram accounts, they also shared photos of themselves with Moonbin from the past, along with images displayed in honor of his memory.

Meanwhile, Moonbin first gained attention in 2006 when he appeared as a child in TVXQ’s "Balloons" music video, earning the nickname 'Little TVXQ.' He officially debuted in the entertainment industry in 2009 as a child actor in the KBS 2TV drama 'Boys Over Flowers.' In 2016, he debuted as a member of ASTRO and went on to promote actively.
We miss you, Moonbin.
