A new film by Yeon Sang Ho, ‘Colony,’ which has been invited to the Cannes Film Festival, is raising anticipation among moviegoers after confirming its release in IMAX and unveiling its signature key art.
On the 27th, distributor Showbox announced the IMAX release, stating, “‘Colony’ will deliver its overwhelming scale, spectacular events, and edge-of-your-seat suspense through IMAX’s massive screen and immersive sound.” They added, “In particular, it will provide a sense of immersion as if audiences are placed at the center of extreme situations unfolding inside a sealed building.”

The newly revealed key art immediately captures attention with a striking visual of infected individuals entangled together as they fall downward. The image of the infected simultaneously reaching out toward survivors, forming a massive colony, symbolically represents the outbreak and powerfully conveys the emergence of a new species.
The poster also highlights six characters confronting the colony. At the center stands survivor leader Kwon Se Jeong (Jun Ji Hyun), exuding a resolute presence. Meanwhile, Seo Young Cheol (Koo Kyo Hwan) gazes indifferently at the infected, hinting that he may be a key figure at the heart of the crisis. Choi Hyun Seok (Ji Chang Wook) appears covered in blood, revealing heightened emotions, while Gong Seol Hee (Shin Hyun Been) shows a strong sense of justice in her eyes. Choi Hyun Hee (Kim Shin Rok), seated in a wheelchair, is surrounded by tension, and Han Gyu Seong (Go Soo) remains steadfast amid the chaos. Curiosity is growing over how these characters will battle against the ever-evolving infected in an unpredictable fight for survival.
‘Colony’ follows isolated survivors trapped inside a building sealed off by an unidentified outbreak, as they struggle against infected beings that evolve in unpredictable ways. The film is set to be released on May 21.
