Hyoyeon reveals why she continues to live alone in Girls' Generation's dorm for almost 20 years

Hyoyeon revealed that she has now been living in Girls' Generation’s dorm for almost 20 years as the only remaining member.

On the April 12 broadcast of JTBC's 'Please Take Care of My Refrigerator,' Girls' Generation members Tiffany and Hyoyeon appeared as guests and shared various stories. In particular, before Hyoyeon revealed her refrigerator, MC Kim Sung Joo said, "I was surprised when I heard from the production team that they had to go to Girls' Generation's dorm to get Hyoyeon’s refrigerator. She is still using the dorm's refrigerator."

Ahn Jung Hwan asked, "Then does that mean everyone else moved out and you have been living there alone for 19 years?" Hyoyeon replied, "That’s right," revealing that she has been living alone in the dorm since her debut.

Hyoyeon explained, "My family home is in Songdo, but I live here to manage my schedule more comfortably. It’s a comfortable place to rest, and the dorm Auntie always cook meals for me so I don’t go hungry. There’s no better place than this."

She added, "I take care of things myself, and sometimes when I want to eat something, I ask the auntie. She has been with us as the dorm caretaker since even before Girls' Generation's debut."

Tiffany also explained that the said 'Dorm Auntie' has been with the group for about 22 years, since the members were in middle school.

During Girls' Generation's reunion show 'Soshi Tam Tam' in 2022, the members also discussed their affection for the Auntie and guessed which gimbap was made by her.
