Jin Ki Joo confirmed to star in new KBS2 drama ‘Sleeping Doctor (working title)’

Jin Ki Joo has confirmed her appearance in KBS2’s upcoming drama 'Sleeping Doctor (working title)'.

'Sleeping Doctor' is a romantic story set in a struggling private psychiatry clinic. The series follows rookie clinic owner Gap Hong Kyung and the highly efficient pay doctor Nam Ji Oh, who can handle the workload of many on his own.

The drama is directed by Lee Hyun Kyung, known for 'Cinderella Game' and 'Drama Special 2023 – Confession Attack,' and written by Baek Eun Kyung, who penned 'Once Upon a Small Town.' With the addition of trending actress Jin Ki Joo, anticipation for the project continues to rise.

In the series, Jin Ki Joo takes on the role of Hong Kyung, the director of “Healer Mental Health Clinic.” Hong Kyung is a skilled psychiatrist who carries deep emotional trauma. While she opens her own clinic for a fresh start, she ironically falls asleep in front of patients, creating unexpected challenges.

As she struggles to keep her neighborhood clinic afloat, Hong Kyung meets pay doctor Nam Ji Oh (played by Kim Sung Cheol), marking a turning point in her life. Jin Ki Joo is expected to portray the complex inner world of a doctor who heals others but cannot treat her own wounds.

Jin Ki Joo has previously demonstrated her wide acting range through dramas such as Undercover High School, Uncle Samsik, and My Perfect Stranger. Notably, she solidified her presence by winning the Top Excellence Award at the MBC Drama Awards last year for her performance in Undercover High School, further raising expectations for her next project.

Through the contrast between a doctor who cannot heal herself and a highly capable pay doctor who revives a failing clinic, we aim to deliver warm empathy and comfort while exploring human struggles and emotional wounds.”

'Sleeping Doctor' has completed its pre-production stage and is set to begin filming.
