Kangin revealed as the first to report Lee Jin Ho’s life-threatening collapse

BY hjang · April 14, 2026

Kangin, a former member of Super Junior, is being recognized for his life-saving actions after comedian Lee Jin Ho collapsed from a sudden brain hemorrhage. According to inquiries confirmed on April 14, 2026 KST, it was Kangin who made the initial report to 119 emergency services, ensuring the comedian’s rapid transport to a medical facility. The incident took place on April 1, when Kangin placed a call to Lee Jin Ho and sensed a dire emergency as the comedian began losing consciousness mid-conversation. Thanks to Kangin’s immediate reaction, emergency responders were able to locate Lee Jin Ho, who had fallen in his yard, and rushed him to a hospital in Seoul.

While Kangin’s quick thinking secured the critical 'golden hour' for treatment, Lee Jin Ho's medical condition remains severe. He is currently being treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), where sources describe his situation as far from a minor hemorrhage. Industry insiders noted that he sustained additional injuries from the heavy fall and will likely face an arduous, long-term recovery process. His agency has been in close contact with the medical team and is providing frequent visits, though the long-term prognosis for his health remains a significant concern for his colleagues and fans.

Amidst the medical crisis, the comedian’s dire financial circumstances have also come to light. Reports indicate that Lee Jin Ho has been in arrears for health insurance premiums totaling 28 million KRW (approximately 18,872 USD) since 2023. This debt, largely attributed to a loss of income following a hiatus and liabilities from past 'illegal gambling', has resulted in a loss of health insurance benefits. Consequently, his family is now grappling with the full weight of expensive ICU treatment costs without insurance coverage, leading to significant difficulties in securing the necessary funds for his continued care and survival.
