The long-awaited return of 'Yumi's Cells Season 3' has made an immediate impact, signaling a successful comeback after four years.
The TVING original drama released its first two episodes on the 13th, quickly capturing viewers’ attention with a fresh and heart-fluttering storyline. The story follows Yumi, played by Kim Go Eun, whose once-quiet life as a successful writer is shaken by the arrival of her new producer, Soonrok, portrayed by Kim Jae Won.
Their first encounter sparks both tension and excitement, awakening viewers’ “romance cells” and raising anticipation for future developments.
Audience response has been overwhelmingly positive. Upon release, the series ranked No. 1 in paid subscriber contribution on TVING, demonstrating its strong influence as a flagship IP. Its first episode also secured the top spot in its time slot across cable and general programming channels, according to Nielsen Korea.
Season 3 opens with Yumi’s seemingly stable yet emotionally stagnant life. Immersed in her writing, even her “love cells” have fallen asleep. However, the arrival of Soonrok—blunt, straightforward, and often tactless—begins to stir unexpected emotions. Despite his sharp comments and socially unaware behavior, his sincere and insightful feedback on Yumi’s work creates a complex dynamic between the two.

Tension builds further when a misunderstanding leads Yumi to consider requesting a change of producer, only to be caught off guard when Soonrok makes the request first. The episode concludes with an intense moment during a business trip to Busan, hinting at a compelling “love-hate” romance to come.
Praised for its relatable storytelling and emotional depth, the new season delivers both warmth and humor. The chemistry between Kim Go Eun and Kim Jae Eon has been particularly well received, while the return of Yumi’s charming animated “cells” adds a lively and heartwarming touch.
