Kim Shin Young in talks to become first female permanent cast member on ‘Knowing Bros’

Kim Shin Young is set to make a surprise addition to JTBC’s long-running variety show 'Knowing Bros.'

According to a report from MyDaily on April 11, Kim Shin Young is in discussions to appear as a fixed cast member on 'Knowing Bros' and has already participated in the show’s recording held on April 9. The episode featured guest appearances by actors Bae Sung Woo, Ye Ji Won, and Park Ha Sun, where Kim Shin Young reportedly blended seamlessly with the existing cast and delivered strong comedic performances.

Kim previously appeared on 'Knowing Bros' in a special segment titled 'Eating With My Mouth' in February. At the time, she drew attention for her noticeably changed appearance after reportedly gaining some weight following 12 years of maintaining a 44kg weight. Her sharp wit and energetic humor once again resonated with audiences, leading to discussions about her becoming a permanent member.

A representative from JTBC commented, “Kim Shin Young is participating as a special transfer student, and discussions regarding her fixed appearance are still ongoing.” However, it has been confirmed that she will also join the next recording, indicating a strong possibility of a continued role.

'Knowing Bros' has undergone several cast changes over the years. In October 2021, the show transitioned to its current seven-member format, featuring Kang Ho Dong, Lee Sang Min, Kim Young Chul, Seo Jang Hoon, Lee Soo Geun, Kim Heechul, and Min Kyung Hoon, with Lee Jin Ho joining later. However, Lee Jin Ho left the program in October 2024 following controversy surrounding illegal gambling. Since then, the show has introduced rotating “one-day classmates,” including Jonathan, Mimiminu, Jang Wooyoung, Jang Sung Kyu, and Kim Hwan, to fill temporary spots.

If Kim Shin Young officially joins as a fixed member, she would become the first female permanent cast member in the show’s 11-year history.
