Actor Kim Sung Cheol is taking on his first-ever doctor role.
On April 16, the production team of KBS2’s upcoming drama 'Sleeping Doctor' (written by Baek Eun Kyung, directed by Lee Hyun Kyung, and Lee Jin Ah) announced, “We have cast Kim Sung Cheol as Nam Ji Oh.”
'Sleeping Doctor' is a romantic story set in a struggling private psychiatry clinic. It follows Hong Kyung (played by Jin Ki Joo), a novice business owner, and Nam Ji Oh, a highly capable “one-man army” freelance doctor.
Nam Ji Oh is portrayed as a naturally gifted physician with extensive knowledge across all fields of medicine. He works tirelessly to help revive Hong Kyung’s failing clinic.
At first, the two clash over their approaches to treatment and hospital management. However, as they gradually build understanding, they begin to develop feelings for each other and eventually fall in love.
This marks Kim Sung Cheol’s first time playing a doctor since his debut. Having built a wide-ranging acting portfolio across film, television, and OTT platforms, he is expected to showcase his versatility once again.
The production team shared, “The synchronization between Kim Sung Cheol and Nam Ji Oh is remarkably high. While Kim Sung Cheol is incredibly versatile, we hope viewers look forward to how he will portray the deeply wounded narrative of Nam Ji Oh.”
