KISS OF LIFE is once again at the center of controversy, facing criticism over alleged excessive sexualization in a recent challenge video.
On April 14, a video uploaded to the group’s official YouTube channel began circulating online, quickly sparking debate. The clip features members performing choreography from their new song “Who Is She,” including movements such as grabbing each other’s necks, opening their mouths, and thrusting their hips in repetitive sequences. Combined with suggestive audio elements, some viewers argued that the performance appears to explicitly mimic sexual behavior.

While the group is known for its “sexy concept,” public response this time has been notably colder. Critics argue that the level of explicitness goes beyond artistic expression and risks damaging the group’s broader image. Comments such as “this feels off” gained significant traction online, reflecting a wider sense of discomfort among viewers.

This is not the first time the group has faced such criticism. Their 2024 release “Lips Hips Kiss” also drew controversy over choreography that created the illusion of pulling underwear straps, eventually leading to modifications. Earlier, during their debut promotions for “Sticky,” the repeated use of twerking and suggestive camera angles raised similar concerns about whether the performances crossed the line of acceptable expression.
Industry observers suggest that such strategies may be tied to the realities faced by smaller entertainment agencies, where generating attention through provocative concepts can function as a form of “noise marketing.” However, questions remain about sustainability. While bold concepts may create initial buzz, they can also polarize audiences and limit long-term appeal.
Concerns have also been raised about accessibility, as short-form platforms like YouTube Shorts and TikTok make such content easily viewable by younger audiences.
Performance metrics appear to reflect these challenges. While “Sticky” previously achieved notable success—entering Melon’s HOT100 top ranks and reaching No. 10 on Billboard’s World Digital Song Sales chart—recent releases have struggled. “Who Is She” has yet to enter Melon’s TOP100 chart as of April 14, while “Lips Hips Kiss” peaked at No. 76.
Despite the backlash, the group’s agency, S2 Entertainment, has stated that it has no official position on the controversy, adding that audiences should consider the full stage performance rather than isolated clips.
