Lee Dong Gun faces mixed reactions after joining ‘Divorce Camp’ amid backlash over Jin Tae Hyun’s exit

Public debate has intensified following the reported departure of actor Jin Tae Hyun from JTBC’s reality program 'Divorce Camp,' with growing criticism directed at the production team and divided opinions emerging over his successor, Lee Dong Gun.

Jin, who had appeared as a male household investigator since the show’s premiere in August 2024, recently revealed that he was informed of his exit through his manager. The disclosure sparked immediate backlash from viewers, many of whom argued that Jin, often praised alongside his wife Park Sieun as a “model couple promoting marriage,” had been a stabilizing presence on the program.

Criticism has also focused on the manner of his departure, with viewers describing the notification as “rude” and “disrespectful.” Many expressed disappointment that an actor who had chosen the program as a return project following cancer treatment was seemingly removed without direct communication.

Amid the controversy, attention has turned to Lee Dong Gun’s appointment as Jin’s replacement on 'Divorce Camp,' a JTBC show centered on counseling troubled couples. Reactions have been sharply divided.

Skeptics argue that Lee’s personal history of divorce makes him an unsuitable figure to advise struggling couples, questioning whether his involvement sends the wrong message.
