Park Mi Sun is set to return to the public eye in good health after completing 18 months of cancer treatment, marking a deeply anticipated comeback to the broadcasting scene.
Known for her smooth hosting skills and sincere, insightful commentary across numerous variety programs, her return as a full-time MC is drawing significant attention from the entertainment industry.
According to a report by Ilgan Sports on April 16, Park Mi Sun has been selected as the main MC for MBN’s upcoming variety program, tentatively titled 'Flaming Family.' The show is scheduled to air in June and follows a reality format that observes the everyday lives of celebrity families. Park is expected to guide the narrative with her signature warmth and sharp observational insight as she interprets the VCR segments featuring the cast’s real-life moments. Notably, her husband, comedian Lee Bong Won, will also appear on the program, raising expectations for their on-screen synergy as a couple.
Debuting in 1988 after winning a top award on MBC’s comedy circuit, Park Mi Sun quickly established herself as a leading figure in Korean entertainment. Over the decades, she has played a central role in iconic programs such as 'Happy Together' and 'Three Wheels,' solidifying her reputation as a versatile entertainer capable of spanning comedy, talk shows, and situational formats. Her long-standing presence in the industry has earned her recognition as one of the most enduring figures in Korean variety television.
Her depth as a host was particularly evident in MBN’s 'Teenage Parents' series, where she balanced emotional empathy with composure while dealing with sensitive and often difficult subject matter. However, her career faced a major interruption when she was diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer in late 2024. During surgery, lymph node metastasis was discovered, leading to an extended treatment period that included surgery and 16 rounds of radiation therapy, followed by intensive chemotherapy.
Despite the physical and emotional challenges, Park continued to communicate with fans throughout her treatment, maintaining a positive and resilient presence that resonated widely with the public. After more than a year of recovery, she recently shared on social media that she is gradually preparing to return to on-set activities, signaling the beginning of her comeback.
Her upcoming role in 'Flaming Family' is therefore seen as her first major step back into full-scale broadcasting since her recovery. Meanwhile, Park Mi Sun has been married to Lee Bong Won since 1993, and the couple has one son and one daughter.
