Comedian Park Myung Soo reportedly ended his long-standing professional relationship with his manager after two decades of working together, marking a significant shift in one of the entertainment industry’s most enduring partnerships.
According to a video released on April 17 via the YouTube channel Entertainment President, titled 'Why did Park Myung Soo and his manager, who suffered emotional wounds, really break up after 20 years of loyalty?,' the separation was not the result of a single dispute but rather a gradual breakdown that developed over time.
Industry insiders cited in the report said that signs of strain between the two began to emerge as early as late last year. “The cracks between them started to become noticeable around the end of last year,” one source noted.
A key factor reportedly influencing the situation was external advice suggesting that Park Myung Soo should join a larger entertainment company. This shift in surrounding opinions is said to have subtly changed the dynamic between the comedian and his longtime manager, eventually leading to a distancing in their professional relationship.
Although the split was officially reported in April, it is believed that the relationship had effectively been winding down since January. At that time, manager Han Kyung Ho was reportedly already removed from active management duties.
Despite the separation becoming public, both sides have remained largely silent regarding the specific reasons behind the split. Han Kyung Ho has reportedly described the situation to acquaintances as a “temporary difference in opinion rather than a breakup,” although industry observers suggest the reality was more definitive.
Sources close to the situation also claim that Han experienced significant emotional distress during the process, with reports indicating he underwent psychological treatment for a period due to stress related to the separation. Even so, he has continued to refrain from publicly disclosing details, with some in the industry interpreting this silence as an effort to preserve a 20-year professional bond and maintain loyalty.
Meanwhile, Park Myung Soo signed an exclusive contract with CP Entertainment on April 14. The company is part of the broader Coupang media ecosystem and has been actively expanding its talent roster, recently signing several high-profile entertainers.
CP Entertainment is also associated with major productions on Coupang Play, including flagship variety content such as 'SNL Korea' and 'The Office Workers,' further strengthening its position in the Korean entertainment production landscape.
