Park We and his wife, Song Ji Eun, have addressed the backlash surrounding the launch of a paid membership service on their YouTube channel, 'WERACLE'. The couple recently announced the "WERACLE Family" membership, offering exclusive content and live stream replays for a monthly fee of 2.20 USD (2,990 KRW). During the announcement, Park We explained that the decision followed much internal deliberation, stating, "We want to create a community and use this as a platform for closer communication."
However, the move sparked criticism from viewers who felt the commercial shift clashed with the channel’s original mission. One subscriber expressed disappointment, noting that while 'WERACLE' once served as a powerful program for disability awareness, it felt as though the channel had been "losing its original spirit" since the couple's marriage. In response to these concerns, Park We replied to a comment on April 18, stating, "I appreciate your sincere words of concern. I will take them to heart and strive to reflect them in how the channel is managed."
Park We, who was paralyzed from the neck down following a fall in 2014, has earned widespread respect for his rehabilitation journey and his commitment to spreading "positive influence" through disability advocacy and charity. Since marrying Song Ji Eun in 2024, he has continued to expand 'WERACLE' as a joint venture. Despite the current debate, the couple remains focused on their audience as they navigate the balance between channel growth and their founding mission of awareness and hope.
