Seunghoon of CIX announces his retirement from the music industry

Seunghoon of CIX has announced his retirement from the music industry, following his group's disbandment. 

Previously on April 29, C9 Entertainment confirmed that CIX would be concluding all group activities as of April 30 KST, with the expiration of all members' exclusive contracts. Soon afterward, Seunghoon took to his social media to dedicate a long, handwritten letter to his fans, delivering his honest thoughts on his future while also expressing his gratitude for the past 7-years. 

Read Seunghoon's full letter, below. 

"Dear FIX.

7 years have gone by in the blink of an eye.

At first, I started all of this without knowing anything and was just happy at the thought of debuting, and now, I'm amazed at how much time has passed since I met you.

Looking back, I realize just how inadequate I was.

I was clumsy, I made mistakes, and there were probably many moments when I did not meet your expectations, but because you kept trusting in me, you continued to support me and told me that it was all okay, I was able to become a better version of me, all thanks to FIX. I am who I am because you made me this way.

Since my debut, people often described me as someone with a lot of love for my fans, because that's how much I enjoyed spending time with you.

But somewhere along the way, my heart became cluttered and I couldn't see my path ahead as clearly. Because of that, I couldn't spend time with you like I used to.

If I disappointed you by making you wait, I'm really sorry.

It had nothing to do with how I felt toward you. It was just that my heart became cluttered with other baggage. 

I want to take this moment to express my gratitude to the staff at my company who worked hard right by our side. 

Thanks to your efforts, we were able to make it this far.

After much deliberation, I have decided to put down the title of singer for a while and live a new life away from the stage.

It's not an easy thing to say, but I believe that I really need this as I am now. 

I have been singing and dancing since elementary school, so to be honest, I'm afraid of this new life without song and dance.

Still, I intend to try my best at every moment, like I have always done. 

The time that I spent on stage were without a doubt the brightest moments of my life. At the heart of it all, you were always there, FIX.

Thank you for loving me.

Thank you for completing me when I was incomplete. 

Thank you for being with me during the brightest years of my youth, FIX.

From now on, we will go on living our respective lives, but I truly want FIX to be happy.

When you think of me from time to time, just smile and say, 'He's probably doing well.' I'll do the same.

Of course, I also want to thank Byeonggon, Yonghee, and Hyunsuk, who walked this path with me for the past 7-years.

All the happy times and the difficult times, thank you for enduring it all with me.

Thank you so much for these last 7-years.

Meanwhile, CIX debuted as a 5-member group on July 21, 2019. Member Bae Jin Young departed from the group early in August of 2024 after the expiration of his exclusive contract. Seunghoon also debuted as a member of the project vocal group B.D.U in June of 2024 through the Mnet survival program 'Build Up: Vocal Boy Group Survival'.
