Son Dam Bi responds to debate over baby’s $3,000 book set

Son Dam Bi has opened up about the ongoing debate surrounding her parenting style.

On the April 27 episode of "But Seriously", the singer appeared as a guest and shared her honest thoughts on motherhood. Known for being deeply committed to parenting, she revealed that she often researches and tries various childcare methods, even earning a reputation for influencing trending parenting items.

During the broadcast, Son Dam Bi expressed her affection for her daughter, sharing that she purchased a full English book series when the child was just five months old. The revelation surprised the cast and reignited discussions about early education.

Addressing the controversy, she said, “I tend to think a lot about parenting. I try things first, and if they don’t suit my child, I adjust. There were definitely mixed reactions.” She acknowledged that opinions were divided but emphasized that she is still learning as a first-time mother.

Previously, Son Dam Bi had faced criticism after introducing a premium English education program worth around 4.5 million KRW (about 3000 USD)for her three-month-old daughter. At the time, she explained through her YouTube channel that she was navigating motherhood through trial and error, adding that every parent has their own approach.

She also drew attention for her dedication to creating a comfortable environment for her child, including carefully designing her daughter’s room after moving to a new home.

Son Dam Bi married former speed skater Lee Kyu Hyuk in 2022 and welcomed their daughter in April last year.
