Song Kang unveils a deeper mood on ‘Elle’ May cover

Song Kang graced the cover of the May issue of Elle, revealing a more mature and nuanced presence.

Set in a private residence in Paris, the pictorial captures moments where early summer ease and subtle tension coexist. Song Kang’s signature soft yet restrained aura added depth to the shoot, elevating its overall atmosphere.

In the interview that followed, he spoke about his return to acting after completing his military service with his upcoming project ‘Four Hands.’ Explaining his reason for choosing the role, he said, “After reading the script, it stayed on my mind even when I looked at other projects. I’ve always been drawn to stories about people who are growing.”

Taking on the role of piano prodigy Kang Bio, Song Kang shared that he devoted himself to consistent practice for the part. “I already know how to play the piano, but performing difficult classical pieces at that level was new to me. I watched many videos and took lessons regularly. It wasn’t easy to handle the fast tempo, but the more I practiced, the more rewarding it felt,” he said.

He also referenced his past experience learning ballet for the drama ‘Navillera,’ adding, “I’m once again realizing how remarkable it is for people who express emotions through their bodies or instruments.”

Speaking about his recent interests, Song Kang said, “I’ve become more curious about people in real life. I find it interesting to hear about how those around me spend their days and how they approach today and tomorrow. I’ve missed those small conversations with colleagues on set.”

When asked about the word “next,” he responded, “There’s excitement, but also tension and pressure. Still, I think life is about moving forward while finding happiness in what you truly enjoy. That’s why I’m trying to focus on what I want.” He added, “I hope you’ll continue to watch as I grow, not only through my work but also as a person.”
