From contract terminations to mutual agreements, these departures mark a significant shift in the careers of some of K-pop’s most beloved stars.
Here’s a closer look at the most talked-about recent departures that truly caught fans off guard.

On December 29, 2025, ADOR shocked the K-pop industry by announcing the termination of Danielle Marsh’s exclusive contract. The decision came amid the highly publicised legal dispute between the members of NewJeans and the agency.
Danielle’s departure left fans heartbroken and fuelled widespread anger online. Adding to the controversy, the label stated it planned to hold former CEO Min Hee-jin and a member of Danielle’s family accountable for the dispute, reportedly seeking approximately ₩43 billion in damages. The situation continues to unfold, making it one of the most shocking controversies in recent K-pop history.

On March 10, 2026, Belift Lab announced that Lee Hee-seung would be departing from ENHYPEN after in-depth discussions about his future direction.
According to the agency, Heeseung has a distinct musical vision that he wishes to explore independently. While ENHYPEN will continue as a six-member group, Heeseung is set to embark on a new journey as a solo artist under the agency, preparing for his debut with the stage name ‘Evan.’ The news came as a major surprise, given his central role in the group’s identity and sound.

In a shocking announcement on April 3, 2026, SM Entertainment revealed that it had mutually agreed to end its contract with Mark Lee.
Effective April 8, Mark concluded not only his contract with the agency but also his activities with NCT and its sub-units. The decision stunned fans worldwide, as Mark is widely regarded as one of the most talented and versatile idols in the industry, playing a key role across multiple NCT units.

Just days after the news of Mark’s departure, SM Entertainment made another surprising announcement on April 6, confirming that Chittaphon Leechaiyapornkul, popularly known as TEN, would also be leaving the agency.
Unlike Mark, however, TEN will remain a member of both NCT and WayV. The agency stated that it will continue to coordinate with him regarding group activities, signalling a new kind of artist-agency relationship that fans are closely watching.
