Actor Kim Soo Hyun reportedly spotted in Seongsu-dong "looking shockingly thin and worn down"

Actor Kim Soo Hyun has recently been reported to be in a concerning state.

On May 3, a video titled “Kim Soo-hyun’s heartbreaking current situation… his emaciated appearance spotted in Seongsu-dong” was uploaded to YouTuber Lee Jin Ho's channel Entertainment President.

In the video, the former entertainment journalist-turned-YouTuber Lee Jin Ho stated, “About 4–5 days ago, an acquaintance happened to be passing through Seongsu-dong and unexpectedly ran into Kim Soo Hyun. He said Kim Soo Hyun looked shockingly thin and worn down.”

He continued, “It’s understandable. Just by existing, hundreds of millions of won are being spent every month. If he were an actor with 1–2 billion won in assets, this situation would be serious enough that one might even consider extreme thoughts.”

Previously, the YouTube channel claimed that Kim Sae Ron had dated Kim Soo Hyun for about six years starting when she was 15. In May, they also held a press conference announcing they had filed a criminal complaint against Kim Soo Hyun for alleged violations of the Child Welfare Act.

In response, Kim Soo Hyun acknowledged that he had dated the late actress but maintained that the relationship did not begin when she was a minor. He has since filed lawsuits against Kim Se Ui, operator of Garo Sero Research Institute, for defamation under the Information and Communications Network Act and stalking-related offenses, as well as separate defamation charges against Kim Sae Ron’s family. 

In a report from March, one family member of late actress Kim Sae Ron was involved in attempted self-harm amid the ongoing legal dispute with Kim Soo Hyun.

Meanwhile, Kim Soo Hun is also involved in legal disputes with advertisers. In a lawsuit seeking approximately 2.8 billion KRW in damages filed by a cosmetics brand A, the parties are in dispute over whether he violated his duty as a model to maintain dignity.

The company claims that his handling of past dating rumors damaged trust and is seeking compensation, while Kim Soo Hyun’s side argues, “The relationship took place after the other party became an adult, and unverified allegations cannot be grounds for contract termination.” The court plans to make a decision after reviewing the outcome of related defamation cases.

In his video, Lee Jin Ho further stated that Kim Soo Hyun’s agency, Gold Medalist, is also in a difficult situation. He noted that some actors, including Lee Chae Min, have left the agency, affecting its profitability.

Lee said, “If nothing had happened, Kim Soo Hyun, Lee Chae Min, and the agency could have risen to become a leading management company in Asia, but this incident derailed everything. They are now in a rut.”
