
ADOR has spoken up to address the latest lawsuit filed by four American songwriters, accusing 2024 single "How Sweet" by NewJeans of plagiarism.
On May 9 KST, a representative of ADOR told media outlets, "We have confirmed with the production team behind 'How Sweet' at BANA that there was no plagiarism involved. Based on this, we plan to respond to the lawsuit accordingly."
Earlier, it was reported that four American songwriters are pursuing a lawsuit against NewJeans and ADOR over suspicions of plagiarism, claiming that the top line and melody of the first verse in "How Sweet" closely resembled a track the writers previously submitted to NewJeans for consideration.
Meanwhile, "How Sweet" by NewJeans, released on May 24, 2024, is credited to composers 250, Sarah Aarons, Elvira Anderfjard, Oscar Scheller, Stella Bennett, and Tove Burman, with lyrics credited to Gigi, Sarah Aarons, Elvira Anderfjard, Oscar Scheller, Stella Bennett, Tove Burman, and Danielle. South Korean producer 250 handled the arrangement.
