Girls’ Generation’s Hyoyeon, Yuri, and Sooyoung spark buzz over possible ‘HyoRiSoo’ unit

BY Minsoo-Kim · May 21, 2026

Girls’ Generation members Hyoyeon, Yuri, and Sooyoung are drawing major attention as fans eagerly hope their playful project unit ‘HyoRiSoo’ could become a reality.

On May 19 KST, Hyoyeon uploaded a humorous but heartfelt post on social media saying, “Producers, are you uncomfortable with HyoRiSoo? Is HyoRiSoo difficult? Do you dislike HyoRiSoo? HyoRiSoo will do well. Please answer our calls.”

Alongside the message, she shared a photo of herself sitting beside Yuri and Sooyoung on a sofa, with the trio effortlessly radiating the chemistry and charisma of an already-established unit.

The unit name “HyoRiSoo” combines one syllable from each member’s name and first gained popularity through Hyoyeon’s content series YouTube channel “Hyoyeon’s Level Up.”

What initially began as a lighthearted “main vocalist competition” video unexpectedly exploded in popularity, surpassing 4.09 million views as of May 20. Clips from the episode quickly spread online, with fans embracing the trio’s comedic chemistry and natural friendship.

The group’s dynamic also carries a nostalgic backstory from their early days as Girls’ Generation members.

Last year, Hyoyeon appeared on SBS variety show 'Dolsing Fourmen' and humorously recalled the group’s early promotion period, saying she once wanted more vocal parts but felt intimidated approaching the stronger vocal members.

She joked, “I asked if I could step into the vocal line, but the vocal members didn’t even listen to me,” drawing laughter from viewers.

The trio recently reunited on 'You Quiz on the Block' on May 6, once again showcasing their effortless chemistry and variety show skills.

Their appearance reignited calls from fans for an official release, with many online comments demanding, “Please make an album already,” and “I’m seriously looking forward to this.”

As excitement surrounding “HyoRiSoo” continues to grow, fans are now wondering whether the viral unit could eventually make its way onto a real music stage.
