Kakao Entertainment unveils special webtoon adaptation poster for new drama 'Doctor on the Edge'

Kakao Entertainment has unveiled a webtoon remake poster previewing the upcoming ENA drama 'Doctor on the Edge' ahead of its June 1 premiere.

The newly released poster highlights the drama’s ocean backdrop while teasing the emotional tone of the series. The drama is based on the popular webtoon 'Jonbeo Doctor.'

Ahead of the launch of ENA’s new Monday-Tuesday drama, the company introduced the special poster showcasing both the original webtoon and live-action adaptation. Expectations are also rising for the synergy between the two versions, each carrying its own unique charm.

Serialized on KakaoPage since 2022, writer Kim Tae Pung’s webtoon 'Jonbeo Doctor' follows public health doctor Do Ji Eui, who is assigned to the remote island of Pyeondongdo — a place avoided by everyone else. The story humorously yet emotionally depicts his experiences treating emergency patients while bonding with the island residents.

The live action adaption, 'Doctor on the Edge', (directed by Lee Myung Woo, written by Kim Ji Soo, planned by KT Studio Genie, produced by The Studio M) has drawn attention for bringing together a notable production team and cast. The medical human romance drama centers on public health doctor Do Ji Eui, who arrives on the infamous island of Pyeondongdo, and the mysterious nurse Yuk Ha Ri.

To celebrate the adaptation, the original creator personally illustrated the webtoon poster. Both the webtoon and drama posters feature a beautiful, peaceful ocean backdrop, showing Do Ji Eui (Lee Jae Wook) heading toward the island and Yuk Ha Ri (Shin Ye Eun) greeting him with a warm smile that eases his anxiety, heightening anticipation for the romance.

Meanwhile, Kakao Webtoon will provide Season 1 of 'Jonbeo Doctor' (48 episodes) for free and award 10,000 cash points to readers who complete episode 84 or higher.

ENA’s new Monday-Tuesday drama 'Doctor on the Edge,' starring Lee Jae Wook and Shin Ye Eun, premieres on June 1.
