An apartment in Gimpo, Gyeonggi Province owned by Miss Korea–turned–actress Kim Sa Rang has been seized by the tax authorities last month (April) due to unpaid national taxes, according to an investigation by Ilyos Hinmun.
According to real estate registry records, Kim Sa Rang’s single apartment in Gimpo was officially seized on April 6 by the NTS Samseong District Office (Seoul Gangnam District). The registry lists the creditor as the government (“National”), while the enforcing authority is recorded as the “NTS Samseong District Office,” with the reason for registration stated as the “Tax Collection Division.”
It has been confirmed that this Gimpo apartment is the only property among Kim Sa Rang’s holdings that has been subject to seizure by the NTS Samseong District Office. In addition to the Gimpo property, Kim also owns an apartment in Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam District; however, no seizure records have been found for that property in the real estate registry.
The officially published collective housing price of the seized Gimpo apartment (as of January 2026) is approximately 366 million KRW (around 244,293 USD), with recent market transaction estimates reaching around 600 million KRW (about 400,480 USD). Considering that the Cheongdam-dong property remains unaffected, it is presumed that the tax authorities assessed the Gimpo apartment alone as sufficient to secure recovery of the outstanding tax debt.
A NTS Samseong District Office official stated in response to Ilyos Hinmun’s inquiry regarding the specific reason and amount of Kim’s tax arrears: “We cannot confirm this due to personal information protection laws.”
According to the National Tax Service, property seizures for tax delinquency are executed based on official assessed values rather than actual market prices. Regardless of the size of the debt, the entire property is subject to seizure once the procedure is carried out. An NTS official explained, “Since real estate is seized on a per-plot or per-unit basis, even if the outstanding tax amount is significantly lower than the assessed value, the entire property becomes subject to seizure.”
Once a seizure is registered due to tax arrears, it becomes effective immediately upon completion of the registration. If the outstanding amount is not fully paid afterward, the property may proceed to public auction. However, if the taxpayer fully settles the arrears, the seizure can be lifted through a formal release process.
