BY Demian09 · May 14, 2026

Actors Lee Min Ki and MONSTA X’s Hyungwon have officially confirmed their casting in the upcoming black comedy drama 'The Grim Reaper Life Extension Project' (literal title), a genre-blending series combining dark humor, drama, and thriller elements.

The story follows two Grim Reapers with contrasting philosophies: a rule-abiding rookie who treats death as a strictly procedural duty, and a veteran supervisor known for bending regulations while maintaining top-tier performance. Their unexpected encounter pulls them into a forbidden attempt to extend human life beyond its natural limits, leading to escalating tension, moral conflict, and unpredictable consequences.

Lee Min Ki has been cast as Kang Rim, a highly skilled veteran Grim Reaper and top performer in his field. Despite his professional success, Kang Rim is characterized by his flexible approach to rules and his willingness to operate within moral grey zones when necessary.

Hyungwon has been cast as Jun Ho, a newly appointed Grim Reaper who strictly follows regulations and initially perceives death as a formal, work-oriented responsibility. However, his meeting with Kang Rim challenges his rigid worldview, gradually pushing him into inner conflict and self-reflection.

The contrasting dynamics between Kang Rim and Jun Ho are expected to form the emotional and narrative core of the series, highlighting themes of morality, belief, and the value of life through darkly comedic and dramatic storytelling.

Developed as a black comedy drama IP from its early planning stages, 'The Grim Reaper Life Extension Project' is designed to expand across film, mid-form, and short-form formats, offering a flexible storytelling structure across multiple platforms.

The project is currently in post-production and is scheduled for release in the second half of 2026.
