Min Hee Jin, CEO of OK Records, recently appeared on the YouTube channel 'MOTV' to candidly share her creative roots and life philosophy. Having rarely made media appearances, she utilized this interview to detail the foundations behind the cultural phenomenon of NewJeans and her unique working methods.
Min Hee Jin revealed that the films, music, and books she intensely consumed for about 10 years, between the ages of 5 and 15, serve as the foundational inspiration sustaining her current creativity. She specifically defined her working method as "the process of pinpointing the deficit," explaining that she instinctively identifies and fulfills the underlying elements that the public subconsciously feels are missing but cannot exactly articulate.
Min Hee Jin also discussed her personal traits, stating, "I think strategically, but I am not a calculating person." She described her style as expressing opinions honestly face-to-face rather than compromising cowardly in situations requiring negotiation, calling this an "unscripted, spontaneous, and transparent temperament." She explained that making choices she is not ashamed of constitutes true coolness. Furthermore, she expressed a fondness for the fleeting aesthetics of transitioning from the fringe to the mainstream, adding that she feels a strong sense of kinship with works that break away from conventional formulas to project the creator's raw stream of consciousness.

Min Hee Jin will deliver a special lecture hosted by the May 18 Institute at Chonnam National University on May 12. Held to commemorate the institute's 30th anniversary, the lecture is themed 'K-Culture, K-Pop, Imagining at Chonnam National University in Gwangju!'. During the event, she plans to explore the intrinsic value of K-pop by connecting it with the May 18 spirit of democracy, human rights, and peace, engaging in discussions with the youth about whether Gwangju can become a new hub for cultural imagination.
