NewJeans' Minji surprises fans with handmade cookies at birthday cafe event

NewJeans member Minji warmed fans’ hearts with a thoughtful gesture during her recent birthday celebration.

To mark the occasion, fans organized special birthday cafe pop-up events for the idol. In a sweet surprise, Minji personally stopped by the locations—not to make an appearance, but to leave behind handmade cookies for her fans.

According to a fan account, Minji quietly dropped off the cookies in front of the cafes and later shared an announcement informing fans that the treats would be available on a first-come, first-served basis. She also included a handwritten letter, adding a personal touch to the already meaningful gift.

She wrote in one letter:

"Hello Bunnies. How have you all been?? I hope you’ve been eating well.

It’s May—a season that feels like anything you imagine might just come true. I heard that many Bunnies gathered again this year to celebrate my birthday! I couldn’t sit this one out either, so I baked some cookies. I hope they taste good.

Please make sure to take just one cookie each! The Bunny next to you might not get to try one otherwise.

And please try to eat them today if possible! That’s when they’ll taste best.

To my always beloved Bunnies… I have so, so much I want to say right now. I hope we get another good opportunity to meet again.

Thank you for wishing me a happy birthday! P.S. This is a photo I took in a hurry."

In the second letter, she wrote:

"Hello Bunnies!! It’s been such a long time. How have you all been? It feels so strange that it’s already been a year since I spent my birthday with Bunnies last year! This year, I prepared cookies that I couldn’t give out last year. I think I baked about 500 of them (including the failed ones—those are for me to eat).

Please make sure to take just one cookie each~ It’ll taste best if you can eat it on the day you receive it.

I’ve been wondering how our Bunnies have been doing and what you’ve all been up to. You’re probably curious about what I’ve been doing too, right? I’m looking forward to the day we can talk for more than four hours someday. Thank you for wishing me a happy birthday!! See you again soon. Meanwhile, NewJeans members were spotted in Copenhagen, Denmark, sparking speculation about a potential comeback. However, only Haerin, Hyein, and Hanni were spotted, leaving fans curious about Minji.

ADOR confirmed that the visit is part of a pre-production process for new music. The company stated that the members are currently preparing for activities based on their individual conditions and optimized schedules, while adding that future plans will be announced at the right time.

While three members have stabilized their roles, Minji is reportedly still in continuous discussions with the label regarding her future trajectory and has yet to finalize her status.
