XLOV talks improvements since debut, delivers encouraging message

BY Sofia-Sayson · May 14, 2026

On April 25, XLOV members Wumuti, Rui, Hyun, and Haru took the time to answer questions during a press conference held just before their first solo concert in Manila.

We’re so happy to be back here,” the members expressed, noting that they had promised fans a return following their two-day mall tour last year. “We did it, and now we’re here.”

The group also highlighted their growth since their last visit. “You can really see our improvement compared to our last concert,” they noted, with Rui adding, “We’ve really improved our singing, right?

When asked what message they wanted to leave with the audience, Wumuti shared: “We just hope everyone, after the show, can feel more confident and power.”

He encouraged fans to embrace their own style and concepts without fear of judgment. “You don't need to care what others say. Just be yourself and dress how you like. Wear the makeup you want, or don't wear makeup. Just be free and be happy.”

As the group’s leader and producer, Wumuti also discussed his creative process. “I get
inspiration from various environments—colors, designs, and concepts from different artists,
animations, movies, or exhibitions
.”

He noted that many of his ideas are drawn from his own life experiences, including his childhood. “Our inspirations generally come from our lives.”

Rui, the group’s main dancer, spoke on how his background in ballet and traditional dance
influences XLOV’s genderless hip-hop and R&B choreography. He explained that these
elements allow for more impact and surprise in their performances.

In my opinion, genderless
and gender-free genres are very diverse. If we apply ballet and traditional dance to R&B and
hip-hop, it deepens the meaning of genderless
,” he said. Wumuti and Rui added that doing so makes their performances more diverse.

While the group’s main vocalist Hyun touched upon the songs he has been practicing most. He revealed that “1&Only” and “I’mma Be” were his top priorities, as they are tracks that both the members and fans love.

Finally, Haru reflected on the personal growth he has experienced over the past few months.
After our debut, since we met a lot of EVOLs and performed in front of them, I think I was able to gain a lot of confidence.” The other members agreed, saying that while Haru initially seemed a bit awkward or nervous on stage, they shared that he really has improved significantly.
