Actress Shin Ye Eun is set to transform into a bold yet warm-hearted nurse in the upcoming drama 'Doctor on the Edge.'
On May 12, the production team of ENA’s new Monday-Tuesday drama 'Doctor on the Edge' (written by Kim Ji Soo, directed by Lee Myung Woo) unveiled the first still cuts of Shin Ye Eun. The actress teased a wide range of charms, from her lovable energy to the hidden secrets surrounding her character.
'Doctor on the Edge' is a medical human romance drama that follows the story of public health doctor Do Ji Eui, played by Lee Jae Wook, who arrives on the infamous island of Pyeondongdo, a place everyone avoids, and nurse Yuk Ha Ri, played by Shin Ye Eun, who harbors many secrets.
The series is based on the popular KakaoPage webtoon 'Jonbeo Doctor' by Kim Tae Poong. Director Lee Myung Woo, known for dramas such as Boyhood and The Fiery Priest, is leading the project and is expected to showcase his signature rhythmic directing style and humor.

Lee Jae Wook and Shin Ye Eun will portray a man and woman who meet on a remote island. The newly released stills captured Shin Ye Eun’s radiant smile as she stayed attentively by patients’ sides, perfectly embodying the image of an angelic nurse.
Yuk Ha Ri is described as a kind-hearted “busybody” who cannot ignore people in need. However, another side of her personality was also revealed as she was seen holding a bottle of alcohol in broad daylight while closely watching someone, hinting at a more unconventional charm.
A contrasting atmosphere was also captured in the stills, with Yuk Ha Ri wearing a deeply worried and serious expression. The images heightened curiosity about the secret reason why she suddenly left her university hospital job and returned to her hometown.
Shin Ye Eun explained why she chose the project, saying, “The subject of public health doctors felt very unique to me. The residents of Pyeondongdo were also incredibly charming and multidimensional. I thought viewers would relate to the stories filled with humor and healing as these characters help one another.”
Describing her character, she shared, “Ha Ri is someone overflowing with love to the point where she may seem overly involved in others’ lives, but she is also soft and strong at the same time. I wanted to blend my own qualities with Ha Ri’s charms to create a character viewers would adore.”
She continued, “Ha Ri is a character who has to display many different emotions within short moments, and her emotional shifts are quite significant. I focused on expressing those emotions harmoniously and making sure not to lose track of her emotional arc.”
The actress also revealed the effort she put into portraying a nurse realistically. “I received consultations, asked many questions, and studied related videos and real-life experiences to get closer to understanding the profession,” she said.
Meanwhile, 'Doctor on the Edge' is scheduled to premiere on ENA on June 1 at 10 PM KST. The drama will also be available on KT Genie TV and Disney+.
