SHINee’s Key moves fans with thoughtful anniversary gifts for members

BY Minsoo-Kim · May 25, 2026

SHINee member Key touched fans with a heartfelt surprise prepared for his fellow members during the group’s 18th debut anniversary celebration.

On May 25 KST, the group’s official YouTube channel released a video titled “Happy 18th Birthday to SHINee.”

In the video, SHINee celebrated its 18th anniversary together, while Key revealed that he had personally prepared luxury jewelry gifts for the members. He also shared that one item was meant for late member Jonghyun, saying, “One of them is for Jonghyun-hyung.”

The members were visibly moved by the thoughtful gesture. Taemin commented, “I’m really touched by the sincerity behind this. I can tell this wasn’t something you simply asked someone else to buy — you personally chose the designs.”

In response, Key explained, “This is connected to Save the Children, so part of it also goes toward donations.”

Reflecting on SHINee’s 18th anniversary, Key shared, “For some people, 18 is the age of becoming an adult. Thank you sincerely to everyone who has stayed with us for such a long time, including new fans who continue to support us. Rather than making a huge fuss about it, I hope each anniversary can simply pass happily like a yearly celebration. We’ll continue preparing for concerts and naturally return to the stage to sing and perform.”

Key also revealed the process behind preparing the gifts. He explained, “We’ve been practicing almost every day lately because of the concert preparations. I wanted to give the members something for our debut anniversary. Calling it a ‘surprise’ felt a little embarrassing, so I decided to just boldly buy something meaningful.”

He added, “I thought jewelry would be something that could remain with us for a long time. I also loved the purpose behind Save the Children, so I thought it would be meaningful if we could celebrate our debut while also helping others in some small way.”

Key jokingly concluded, “I hope everyone likes them. I’m paying in three-month installments.”

Meanwhile, SHINee is set to release its sixth mini album Atmos on June 1.

The album will feature six tracks across various genres, including the title song “Atmos”, marking the group’s first comeback in approximately one year since the 2025 single ‘Poet | Artist’.

The comeback also marks Key’s return to activities after a roughly six-month hiatus following controversy related to the so-called “Injection Aunt” issue, for which he previously issued a public apology.
