SHINee’s Taemin ramps up activities after joining G-Dragon’s agency, releases another new song

BY K-Soul · May 22, 2026

Taemin of SHINee has already released his second new song just two months after signing with Galaxy Corporation, the agency also home to G-Dragon.

Taemin released his new track “PERMISSION” on May 22 at 1 PM. The song previously drew global attention after Taemin first unveiled it during his performance at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, one of the largest music festivals in the United States.

“PERMISSION” features a dark and sophisticated sound layered with a tense progression. The restrained rhythm and immersive vocals create an intense atmosphere, while Taemin’s emotionally controlled vocal delivery builds alongside the escalating soundscape to dramatically convey the song’s message.

The track’s central message stands out the most. “PERMISSION” contains Taemin’s autobiographical story about choosing and leading his own life. The song carries themes of freedom and liberation, emphasizing his determination to move forward in his own way, free from others’ standards and control.

The song was produced by JORDi, who has worked with artists including David Guetta, Teddy Swims, Snoop Dogg, and Lil Baby.

Songwriters JHart and Rachel West, who have participated in songs for artists including Justin Bieber, Young Thug, and aespa, also contributed to the track alongside Taemin, further elevating its quality.

A representative from Galaxy Corporation described the song as “a track that showcases Taemin’s artistic direction.”

Back in March, Taemin announced a fresh start by releasing his first English digital single, “Long Way Home,” immediately after joining Galaxy Corporation. Now, just two months later, he has unveiled a second new song, continuing an even more active musical journey under his new agency.
