Singer and actress Song Ji Eun and YouTuber Park Wi revealed that they have decided to undergo IVF treatment as they prepare to welcome their first child, 19 months after their marriage.
On the May 19 broadcast of SBS’s 'Same Bed, Different Dreams 2: You Are My Destiny,' the couple shared their newlywed life on television for the first time.
During the episode, Park Wi talked about choosing a Children’s Day gift for his niece. Looking at his beloved niece In Ha, Song Ji Eun said, “When we gifted her clothes and saw her wearing them around, it looked so adorable. It just makes me want to give her more things.”
Song Ji Eun added, “I feel like loving babies is a gift I was born with.”
Park Wi then carefully asked, “It’s been a year and a half since we got married. What do you think about having our own child?”
Song Ji Eun replied honestly, “I really love children. It’s not just about loving my own child — I simply love kids in general. So after getting married, I truly wanted to have a baby quickly. I wanted to become a good adult for my child.”
However, she admitted she sensed her husband’s worries during earlier conversations about parenthood.

“When I saw him hesitate to answer, I realized there was still some unresolved burden weighing on him. I thought I shouldn’t pressure him, because no matter how much I want it, raising a child is something two people do together,” she explained.
Park Wi then opened up about the fears he had been carrying.
“To be honest, I had a lot of realistic concerns. I kept imagining situations where I wouldn’t be able to physically help while raising a child. The more I thought about it, the more I felt like I was running away from the conversation,” he confessed.
He continued, “I was scared. I worried about even the smallest things. Would I be able to change my baby’s diaper? Could I safely hold my child in my arms? If an emergency happened, would I be able to carry my child and rush to the hospital? Those thoughts completely trapped me.”
Park Wi also admitted feeling guilty about the possibility that Song Ji Eun would have to shoulder more of the burden due to his physical limitations.
“The more I thought about it, the more sorry I felt toward Ji Eun. That’s why I kept avoiding conversations about having children,” he shared.
Despite his fears, encouragement from people around him eventually gave him courage. “Whenever I opened up about these worries, some people told me, ‘Children aren’t raised with strength, but with love,’” he said.
Park Wi added that those words changed his perspective. “I realized that if I raise a child with love, there may be areas where I fall short, but I can still do it well enough,” he said, explaining that the realization helped him make a brave decision.
The couple ultimately revealed that they decided to begin IVF treatment this year in hopes of starting a family.
“Because we need IVF treatment, we were able to decide on a timeframe and prepare ourselves,” Song Ji Eun shared. “We can’t predict the outcome, but we want to take on this challenge with excitement and hopeful hearts.”
