
The 79th Cannes Film Festival, which was held from May 12 to May 23, 2026, in Cannes, France, once again brought together filmmakers, actors, and cinema enthusiasts from around the world. This year, South Korea has drawn major international attention through its impressive lineup of films and star-studded red carpet appearances.
One of the biggest highlights of this year's festival is acclaimed South Korean filmmaker Park Chan Wook serving as the president of the Feature Films Competition jury. Director Na Hong Jin's highly anticipated film ‘Hope’ earned an invitation to the festival's main competition section. Meanwhile, director Yeon Sang Ho's ‘Colony’ made its world premiere in the Midnight Screenings section. The thriller generated significant buzz at the festival and reportedly received a seven-minute standing ovation following its screening.

At the same time, Han So Hee made her Cannes Film Festival debut as a global ambassador for the French luxury jewellery house Boucheron, drawing attention from fashion and entertainment audiences alike.
