At the 62nd Baeksang Arts Awards, actors Yoo Hae Jin and Ryu Seung Ryong each lifted the coveted Grand Prize trophy, delivering one of the ceremony’s most emotional moments.
The star-studded '62nd Baeksang Arts Awards' ceremony was held on May 8 at COEX D Hall in Gangnam, Seoul. Yoo Hae Jin won the Film Division Grand Prize for the blockbuster film 'The King's Warden,' which attracted 17 million moviegoers, while Ryu Seung Ryong claimed the Television Division Grand Prize for the JTBC drama 'The Dream Life of Mr. Kim' in Seoul and Works at a Major Corporation.
Taking the stage as the Film Division Grand Prize winner, Yoo Hae Jin shared, “I was trying to collect myself after not winning Best Actor, so I never imagined I would receive such a huge award.” He reflected on his unknown theater days, recalling how he once wished he could simply continue acting and make a living. He also credited co-star Park Ji Hoon, saying the actor’s expressive eyes helped him immerse himself in the role.

Ryu Seung Ryong, who won the Television Division Grand Prize, also moved the audience by mentioning his 30-year friendship with Yoo Hae Jin. “I remember the days when Yoo Hae Jin and I used to put up theater posters and work at factory part-time jobs,” he said. “Receiving the Grand Prize alongside my friend is incredibly emotional.” Referencing his character Manager Kim, he added, “If we find courage and empathy in the ordinary moments of everyday life, even one warm word can become a gift that saves someone.”
This year’s ceremony was practically dominated by 'The King's Warden.' In addition to Yoo Hae Jin’s Grand Prize win, Park Ji Hoon swept both the Best New Actor award in the film category and the Popularity Award. The film itself also won the Gucci Impact Award, proving its overwhelming buzz and influence.

In the television category, the Best Acting Awards went to Hyun Bin for Disney+’s 'Made in Korea' and Park Bo Young for tvN’s 'Our Unwritten Seoul.' Meanwhile, Netflix’s 'You and Everything Else' won Best Drama.
For the film category, Best Acting Awards went to Park Jung Min for 'The Ugly' and Moon Ga Young for 'Once We Were Us.' Director Park Chan Wook’s 'No Other Choice' won Best Film.
In the newly established musical category, Mongyudowon won Best Musical, while Kim Junsu took home the Musical Acting Award for 'Beetlejuice,' marking the first winners in the category’s history.
The ceremony also featured a heartfelt memorial stage honoring late entertainment figures, including Ahn Sung Ki and Jeon Yoo Sung, leaving many attendees in tears.
