TWICE's Jihyo announces that her English name is Gianna

TWICE's Jihyo has just revealed her surprising choice of English name. 

Jihyo recently appeared as a guest on SEVENTEEN Seungkwan's variety show, 'Bibbidi Bobbidi-Boo.' While doing Seungkwan's makeup, Jihyo shared the story behind her English name 'Gianna' and how she chose it.

Alongside Jeongyeon, Jihyo shared the story of why she chose the name. She explained that while overseas, she kept having to give her name as 'JH' when ordering in cafés, because the staff had trouble understanding 'Jihyo.' As a result, she ended up choosing the English name 'Gianna,' so that she would have an easier time ordering in cafés while overseas. Seungkwan then revealed that he too had experienced the struggles of having his name misunderstood by café workers.

The news of Jihyo's English name reveal has sparked controversy across social media. While some are complimenting her name choice and saying that it suits her, others are criticizing the concept of needing an English name at all. Debate continues to surround Jihyo's recent announcement.
