Yoo Hae Jin returns to occult genre with Im Si Wan

BY Alec06 · May 19, 2026

Yoo Hae Jin and Im Si Wan are set to join forces for the upcoming occult film 'Mod-up'.

According to reports, the two actors recently selected “Modup” as their next project and have begun preparing for filming. Their agencies, VAST Entertainment and THEBLACKLABEL, stated that both actors received offers for the film and are positively reviewing them.

“Modup” is described as an occult film centered around mysterious knots. The project is jointly planned and developed by Showbox, the investment and distribution company behind Exhuma, which became the highest-grossing occult film in Korea after attracting 11.91 million moviegoers in 2024.

Director Kang Yoon Sung, known for works such as The Outlaws, Big Bet, and Low Life, is also participating in the production, further raising anticipation within the film industry.

The project is drawing particular attention as Yoo Hae Jin’s next work following the massive box office success of The Man Living with the King, which surpassed 16.85 million viewers earlier this year. Having previously explored the occult genre through “Exhuma,” Yoo Hae Jin is expected to once again showcase his presence in the genre.

For Yim Si Wan, “Modup” would mark his return to the big screen for the first time in three years since Road to Boston in 2023. The actor has continued to gain recognition through projects including Boyhood and Squid Game Seasons 2 and 3.

“Modup” is currently scheduled to begin filming in late August.
