“Yoon Dowoon out” DAY6’s Dowoon faces truck protest amid relationship rumors and ambiguous statement

BY Demian09 · May 28, 2026

Reports from the K-pop industry on May 28 indicate that a truck protest has been staged outside the headquarters of JYP Entertainment calling for the departure of DAY6’s Dowoon, following escalating backlash over recent relationship and marriage rumors and his subsequent social media statement.

The protest trucks displayed messages such as Dowoon, leave the group,” “Do you like Dowoon leaving? Yes,” and DAY6’s Yoon Dowoon out. No official statement,” reflecting growing frustration among a segment of fans toward both the agency’s silence and Dowoon’s response to the situation.

The controversy began after online communities circulated unverified claims linking DAY6’s Dowoon to creator Yu Ji Yoo, including speculation about a romantic relationship and potential marriage preparations. The rumors referenced alleged shared interior design choices, couple items, and consultations with wedding planners. As speculation spread, JYP Entertainment stated it had “no official position” on the matter, neither confirming nor denying the reports.

In the early hours of May 28, DAY6’s Dowoon posted a personal message on social media addressing the situation. In his statement, he emphasized that the group would not disband and urged fans not to engage with harmful online comments, while also expressing regret that the ongoing controversy was hurting fans. However, the post drew mixed reactions, with many fans criticizing it for failing to directly address the allegations of a relationship and marriage at the center of the issue. Others also took issue with the informal tone and phrasing of the message, describing it as inappropriate given the seriousness of the situation.

As backlash intensified, portions of the fandom organized truck protests outside the agency building, demanding clearer communication and accountability. Critics argued that both JYP Entertainment and DAY6’s Dowoon had avoided directly addressing the core allegations, instead focusing on reassurances about the group’s continuity. The protest has further escalated tensions between fans and the artist, highlighting divisions within the fandom over expectations of transparency and response style.

DAY6, currently consisting of Sungjin, Young KWonpil, and Dowoon, has previously undergone lineup changes before re-establishing itself as a four-member band. The group is currently preparing for its 10th anniversary finale concert, 'The DECADE,' scheduled for July 3–5 at KSPO DOME in Seoul Olympic Park, a milestone that has intensified attention on the ongoing situation.

As of now, neither DAY6’s Dowoon nor JYP Entertainment has released additional clarification regarding the rumors or the ongoing protest demands.
