
A male BJ (broadcast jockey), or streamer, known as a former organized crime member from Busan, was killed after being struck by a cargo truck while livestreaming.
According to reports from June 3, the accident occurred at around 1:30 PM on June 2 along National Route 25 heading toward Sangju from Daegu. A cargo truck reportedly crashed into a bicycle traveling ahead and an SUV following behind it.
The collision left a man in his 40s, identified as Mr. A, who was riding the bicycle, in cardiac arrest, while the SUV driver, identified as Mr. B, suffered serious injuries and was taken to a hospital. Mr. A ultimately passed away, while Mr. B is reportedly receiving treatment.
The incident drew additional attention after it was revealed that Mr. A was a BJ known for his past ties to organized crime in the Busan area. At the time of the accident, he was reportedly livestreaming content in which he was cycling from Busan to Seoul. The broadcast was said to have around 150 live viewers at the time.
It was also reported that Mr. A had been riding within the designated bicycle lane. Police believe the crash may have been caused by the truck driver’s negligence and are currently investigating the exact circumstances of the accident through dashcam footage and witness statements.
