aespa’s Winter and Giselle share honest take on first long break after 7 years, “We didn’t know how to rest”

BY Demian09 · June 12, 2026

aespa shared honest reflections about taking their first extended break since debut, revealing that even rest can feel unfamiliar after years of nonstop activity.

On June 12, aespa appeared on the YouTube show ZIP DAESUNG, hosted by Daesung. During the episode, the members looked back on their journey in their seventh year since debut and revealed that earlier this year they were finally given a three-week vacation, marking their longest break so far.

However, the members admitted that adjusting to free time was not easy. Both Winter and Giselle said they were unsure how to properly rest after such a long period of constant schedules.

Winter traveled to Hawaii during the break but shared that she struggled to stay abroad for too long. She said she began feeling uneasy and bored, which led her to return after about three to four days. While there, she kept her trip simple, spending time resting on the beach, watching movies, and sleeping, describing it as a quiet but refreshing experience.

Giselle visited Los Angeles but said she naturally continued working on music even during her vacation. She explained that she was not fully used to resting, so she stayed engaged in creative work. Still, she shared that it felt enjoyable and healing rather than like pressure or work.

Their experiences highlight a familiar reality for long-active performers. For aespa, the first long vacation was less about completely switching off and more about learning what rest means in their own way.
