BY Demian09 · June 5, 2026

Actor Byeon Woo Seok resumed activity on social media roughly two weeks after the controversy surrounding 'Perfect Crown' sparked public backlash over alleged historical distortion, while South Korea’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism continues its review of the production.

On June 4, Byeon Woo Seok posted several photos on his account taken during the filming of Netflix variety program 'Jae-seok’s B&B Rules!.' Alongside the images, he left a simple smiling emoji, marking his first social media activity since mid-May.

The newly shared photos show various behind-the-scenes moments from the program, including scenes of the actor smiling during filming and undergoing styling sessions, offering fans a glimpse into his recent schedule and daily life. Fans responded warmly to his return online, leaving supportive messages and welcoming him back after his brief hiatus.

His return comes approximately two weeks after his last post on May 18, when he issued a public apology regarding the controversy surrounding MBC drama 'Perfect Crown.' As the lead actor, he expressed regret over the concerns raised by viewers.

In his statement, he said he felt a “heavy heart” toward those who were uncomfortable with the production, adding that there had been insufficient consideration of how the historical context and meaning embedded in the work could be perceived by audiences.

The controversy surrounding 'Perfect Crown' began after a royal coronation scene led to accusations of historical distortion and claims linked to so-called “historical revisionism” concerns. In response, the director, writer, and main cast members all issued apologies.

Despite these statements, public criticism continued, with a petition demanding the suspension and disposal of the drama’s content surpassing 50,000 signatures. In addition, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has launched an investigation following a public complaint regarding production funding support provided by the Korea Creative Content Agency.

Although 'Perfect Crown' has already concluded its broadcast, debate surrounding the series remains ongoing, drawing renewed attention as Byeon Woo Seok resumes his public online activity.
