Gong Hyo Jin to make her long-awaited drama return with 'A bona fide killer'

Actress Gong Hyo Jin is set to greet television viewers this July, transforming into a lethal hit woman for her upcoming drama.

On June 10, the production team behind MBC’s new Friday-Saturday drama 'A bona fide killer' (working title) announced that the series is officially scheduled to premiere this coming July.

'A bona fide killer' follows the fierce struggles of a working mom with the most dangerous job in the world as she tries to protect her work-life balance.

Gong Hyo Jin takes on the role of Yu Bo Na, who holds a double identity: by day, she is a manager in the 3rd Sales Team at Durumi Electronics, but by night, she is "Kingfisher," a legendary sniper.

On the surface, Yu Bo Na is an ordinary woman in her 30s with a husband and a four-year-old daughter. In reality, she is a one-shot, one-kill assassin who eliminates heinous criminals who have evaded the law. Returning to her duties as Kingfisher after a three-year maternity leave, Yu Bo Na walks a tightrope between a warm, peaceful family life and her incredibly hazardous day job. Anticipation is high to see how Gong Hyo Jin will portray the stark contrast of this extreme double life.

Joining Gong Hyo Jin to captivate viewers are talented actors Jung Joon Won, Lee Sang Yi, and Sung Dong Il.

Jung Joon Won stars as Yu Bo Na’s husband, Kwon Tae Sung, an investigative reporter at a newspaper. Kwon Tae Sung is a doting husband and a devoted father, but professionally, he is a fiercely passionate journalist who throws himself headfirst into fighting injustice. Having previously specialized in reporting on Kingfisher, Kwon Tae Sung begins inching closer to uncovering the true identity of the mysterious assassin, unknowingly tracking his own wife.

Lee Sang Yi plays Lee Dong Jin, a cynical inspector in the violent crimes unit at the Nambu Police Station. Driven by a steadfast belief in bringing Kingfisher to justice, Lee Dong Jin relentlessly pursues the sniper, adding dramatic tension to the plot.

Sung Dong Il portrays Kim Bong Pal, the head of the 3rd Sales Team at Durumi Electronics. Beneath his typical salaryman exterior, Kim Bong Pal harbors deep tactical knowledge and combat skills, acting as a reliable anchor and ally for Yu Bo Na as she returns to the field.
