H.O.T.’s Moon Hee Jun says wife Soyul nearly caused a fire and electric shock: “She doesn’t even remember our huge fight two weeks ago”

BY K-Soul · June 16, 2026

H.O.T. member Moon Hee Jun shared shocking details about his married life, revealing that he has endured numerous stressful situations due to his wife Park Soyul’s carefree personality.

On the June 16 episode of the SBS reality show 'Same Bed, Different Dreams 2: You Are My Destiny,' Moon Hee Jun and Park Soyul joined the program as a new celebrity couple and opened up about their marriage.

The couple, known as Korea’s first idol couple, married in 2017 and have a son and a daughter. Despite their 13-year age gap, the two tied the knot after meeting as senior and junior artists in the industry.

We actually had the kind of senior and junior relationship, and she could barely make eye contact,” Moon Hee Jun joked. “But once we got married, all of that disappeared.”

During the broadcast, the couple spoke candidly about conflicts stemming from their age difference. Park Soyul admitted that her husband often feels more like a teacher than a spouse.

Watching him over the years, he sometimes feels more like a teacher than my husband,” she said. “He nags a lot, repeats himself constantly, and sometimes even feels like a company CEO. There are moments when I wonder if I’m still a trainee.”

Moon Hee Jun, however, argued that the situation is far more challenging from his perspective.

Can a CEO’s job really be this difficult?” he said. “Normally, when a CEO says something, people understand right away. People say I nag a lot, but I hold back 90 things and only say 10. It feels like I’m raising a grown child. This is probably the first time we’re showing our real daily life. Once people see it, they’ll understand why I say these things.”

The episode also showed Moon Hee Jun working on music until 4 AM. The singer-songwriter, who has released self-composed songs since his H.O.T. days, revealed that he had largely stepped away from music after 2013.

After having children, I barely had time to work on music,” he explained. “I kept putting it off because of parenting responsibilities. It’s been almost nine years since I seriously started working on songs again.”

The couple later argued over food expiration dates after Park Soyul purchased a large amount of side dishes from a food shop.

“I’m always the one who organizes the refrigerator,”
Moon Hee Jun said. “When I ask her to check expiration dates, I’m not trying to dump work on her. I literally just want her to check them. She’s so easygoing that she’ll just say, ‘It hasn’t gone bad,’ and move on. She’s the type of person who could live perfectly fine even without spoons.

He added that the issue became serious because they have children.

He shared, “If it were just me eating something bad, I could simply spit it out. But we have kids. There was even a time when we all had to spit out food together after realizing something was wrong. That’s why I keep nagging.”

Moon Hee Jun then revealed an even more alarming incident, saying his wife once caused a fire in their kitchen. He explained, “I’m basically sending out an SOS for help.” He added, “My wife put aluminum foil in the microwave and started a fire. Thankfully, I was home when it happened.”

He continued, “The moment that really terrified me was when she tried to plug in a hair dryer with wet hands right after washing dishes. That genuinely shocked me.”

When Park Soyul responded, “What are you talking about? Are you making that up?” and appeared unable to remember the incident, Moon Hee Jun looked stunned. “That happened just two weeks ago,” he argued. “We had a huge fight over it, and you don’t remember?”

He then added, “This is actually the first time I’ve talked about these things publicly. I’ve kept quiet all this time. Honestly, I endure it all because of the kids,” expressing his frustration.

Meanwhile, 'Same Bed, Different Dreams 2: You Are My Destiny' airs every Tuesday.
